Christmas Pajama Tradition
Yes, I’m backtracking with all these Chrsitmas posts. Just getting a few free moments on one of these rare evenings where I have already fulfilled all of my devotions and prayer vigil requirements and all other duties are completed as well. Oh, and I’m also somewhere there is DSL. Big plus!
Well, we have this fun Christmas pajama tradition going that we started 3 years ago. I think we got the initial idea out of a magazine that had an feature called “Traditions to Steal”, and if people had one they could submit it and you could steal one you read there that you liked and make it your own.
We found one where this family’s tradition was that on Christmas eve the kids were delivered a package of fresh, new pajamas along with a letter from Santa telling them to put them on and get in bed and get ready for Chrsitmas morning. Sounded fun, and I think the kids needed pjs that year, so we tweaked it.
Now, on Christmas eve we get all the kids in our home new PJs (we try to get them matching if possible), and we ring the doorbell and Jesus (this year his messenger “Natalia” took His place) comes and gives the kids a letter thanking them for being good girls and boys and giving him all the gifts He loves most. Jesus usually likes to enumerate those in His letter so that the kids now what He appreciates specifically. And then they all get into their PJs and get ready for Chrsitmas morning.
The next morning the kids always look great in their new PJs. It’s a double whammy, sweet n cozy tradition and a great photo op. heh!
Here’s our PJ pic this year. (Darren got me some warm PJs too, probably because I am always so cold. Thanks baby!)
