Just the Two of Us

Happy Birthday to my baby-love Emmer who turned three years old yesterday!

We had a great birthday! –And by we I mean Emmer and I. We just took a chunk of time and spent it together –just the two of us. And since I’d been gone at meetings, camps and projects for about three weeks prior, it was a great time to just chill and be together.

Emmer and I made a chocolate crockpot cake. It took four hours to cook (?) and then we decorated it simply like a castle with chocolate squares and shavings and added playmobile knights and candles. –Three of each to be exact.

Tammy (Emmer’s teacher) made Emmer a King’s outfit. A cute crown and cape and belt and wrist band, along with a sceptor. So it all went together nicely. Thank you Tammy! You’re the sweetest!

We went to the park in the afternoon and played basketball with daddy, Evan and Ella, and flew little wooden propellor airplanes I’d brought home for the kids. Then we went home and ate cake and strawberries filled up with a heap of whip cream. We sang happy birthday for Emmer, he opened his presents and then watched a Diego show (he got a few DVDs and Diego and Dora toys and horses).

I was really touched by all the love, hugs and attention all the grown-ups in our home showed him on his birthday. I realized how loved he is and how scincerely everyone thinks he’s just a wonderful kid. I think he’s definitely a blessed kid. Privileged to have so much love in his life and so many people who adore him.

I’m so thankful he’s been in good health this year, learning to read, enjoying life, playing his heart out, and that he has awesome teachers, caring grandparents who have been a stabilizing factor and a tremendously good influence in his life, great friends in  the big and small people he’s blessed to live with and know.
