Kindness matters.

7 Seconds

It was one of those very special mommy-moments (when a little pride is okay to have) when my seven year old son, Evan, got up and took the mike at the wedding party yesterday and gave a little speech for the couple. I’ve memorized what he said:

“I like Jason because he’s so much fun to play with and now I’m happy that he’s married Clara so I can learn to know her too.”

He got a nice cheer from the crowd and high-fives from all his friends for his speech. Evan told me afterwards, reffering to his speech “It went faster than I thought once I was up there.”

It might have been 5-7 seconds of bravery & kindness for him; but for me, it was  7 seconds of motherly pride that’ll last a lifetime.
