dad, mom, and miracle maker
I come home (from 4 days of travel there and back again –meetings in Miami) and what do I find? All the laundry neatly put away. The kids are four days smarter. Four school lessons taught. A happy, chubby baby. And my husband is the world’s best dad, mom and miracle maker. Oops, sorry, I meant yogurt maker –Whaaaat?
Yep. Darren can make yogurt. Check that. Darren MAKES yogurt. Yogurt –at the rate of one pot a day to help keep our very-chubby-super-wubby-fat-guy-baby Emmer’s weight up. Yep, uhuh. At 4-6 bottles of yogurt and apple juice a night, this guy knows how to hold his own weight. And Darren has amazed me with one more previously hidden talent. This one really saves on the ol’ budget.
When I question Darren about where/when/how he learned to make yogurt, he shrugs it off casually with “oh, I haven’t made yogurt since India” (okay people, he was like 9 years old when he left India).
This reminds me that people have sometimes told me that I appear to be a good mother. They sometimes follow that by asking “how do you do it?” or “what is your secret?” I’ve always replied “Darren.” –He’s such a good dad that he makes me look good.
I guess that’s what you get when you mix being the oldest of 12 siblings, growing up on several mission fields, having wonderful, faith-full parents; with… well that’s a whole ‘nother blog for a whole ‘nother day. Or maybe for an upcoming FAQ or Fact… hrmm…
It is with good reason that “Darren and Claire’s” reputation preceeds them. Darrien AND Claire, both of whom are outstanding people (and may I also add, very good writers.) I will never be surprised when I here of something Darren and Claire can do, for together they can accomplish anything and as individuals they are ones to be admired.
